Idea
Introduce the world to the woman behind the wine — Isabelle Simi — who persevered against all odds to become a pioneer in California wine making.
Role
Worked with the creative team to concept and write multiple films and craft a visual identity for the brand, which included making a hand-drawn font.
Brief
Reposition SIMI Winery to stand out in a category defined by leisure and luxury.
Insight
Good wine isn’t made through leisure. It’s crafted with grit, sweat and determination.
FILM
“Goodness from Grit: The Untold Tale of Isabelle Simi”
FONT + DESIGN
Created a custom font and helped develop a design system that balances the true grit of wine making with the sophistication and richness of the final product.
OLV
In the true nature of SIMI, it wouldn’t be a tale to tell without some production hurdles. After our Film production was delayed in March 2020, we created teaser OLVs that began to tell Isabelle’s story.
The illustration makes use of the dusty Sonoma palette we set in our design system and embraces the gritted painted texture we developed in our font.
